Refractory is a kind of inorganic nonmetallic material with a fire resistance of not less than 1580 degrees. Refractory refers to the temperature in Celsius at which the cone-shaped sample of refractory can resist high temperature without softening and melting under the condition of no load. However, refractories can't be fully described only by the definition of refractoriness, and 1580 degrees is not absolute. Now it is defined that any material whose physical and chemical properties allow it to be used in high temperature environment is called refractory.

Amorphous refractory is a kind of refractory material which is made of refractory aggregate with certain particle size gradation, powder, binder and admixture.
